1000 episodes of One Day at a Time, I really can’t believe it. I don’t know where to begin. I never thought when I started to bring ODaaT to the web that it (or me frankly) would last to get to 1000 but here we are. I created this series in 1994 when I was 11 and started writing it on paper in 1995; I brought it, first, to the internet in 2002. I really, honestly, never believed that this series, these characters, would still be in my life all these years later. It, truly, is a part of me, and it has become a part of my DNA and my every day life. I don't take for granted this milestone, and am humbled that there are people that read, and enjoy, my creative hobby, so thank you to anyone that has ever read an episode, whether you liked it or not.
Okay. Let’s start with the week of dailies. I mean SHIT went down. Let’s start with Dale/Helen/Adam story. After Dale mowed down Dawn, this was going to happen: a race against time for Adam to save Helen from the madman. I always wanted him to die the same way Mallory died, it just seemed fitting. I have loved this arch for Helen, mostly, cause it gave her a love interest outside of Adam.
Next we have the shooting of Kim and the deathbed wedding between Robbie & Kim. Obviously, this was a huge inspiration from Nikki & Victor on Y&R when Sarah shot Nikki while she was married to Joshua & Vic was with Diane. To me, Rim have always been end game and this was a clever way to get them back together while Maddie & Greg stand by. This story has LONG legs moving forward.
Next we will move to Cassie exposing Natasha, but Jacob has already married Isabelle, which adds complications to this story. I love that Cassie is “innocent” while Natasha is the villain in this arch between the rivals. The impact of this will shift Jacob, Isabelle, Natasha, Shane, Cassie and Sophie in the long term as everyone comes to terms with the lies.
Last, the SHOCK of all shocks: Ethan is Jeff & Leah’s son (and he married Paige - his sister in Vegas!) and Bryce is an alive Noah! Ethan might not be the shock, but the wedding and the Bryce/Noah reveal certainly are. This is all unfolding as Leah & Jeff are reuniting, which is good cause they will need one another when this truth comes out.
Lastly, the theme songs - Mariah, my QUEEN. I couldn't do this milestone without her number ones (5 of them anyways ), it just seemed fitting.
Overall, I’m so thrilled to have hit this milestone and can't wait for more! I am currently writing mid 2025, and have half of the 2026 bible started, so there's no slowing down for me or ODaaT! what are your fav moments?
