Hi, Dallas! Happy (belated) Christmas. I came here to leave comments about the Christmas episode, which I read on my phone yesterday, and saw that there was this new 'bonus' episode, too. What a treat! Also, excellent choice of theme song -- that's one of my all-time faves from Pink. These are kind of my mushed-up thoughts on the past two eps. I don't blame Kim for running out on Christmas day. Natasha and her family have every right to discuss Jacob and his recovery, but they were a little insensitive to keep bringing it up. Kim handled it pretty maturely, though, just slipping out to gather herself and then going to Blake's grave. It was kind of hilarious how Bob was so prepared to continue the plan and had the bug for Felciia's room ready to go. I'm really enjoying him and Kim as this out-and-out evil couple, but part of me can't wait until someone hears the damn "I started the fire!" murmurs in Felicia's room. Happy belated Christmas to you as well Michael! Yes, I needed one extra episode squeezed in before my NYE episode coming out tomorrow, hence the "bonus" episode. I have to admit, the new "evil" Bob/Kim dynamic has been one of my favorite twists in their relationship to write for. Kim definitely feels justified for starting the fire and Bob is just thrilled that she did something to hurt Dominick; it's so twisted but it really does make sense. Obviously, this cover up (or attempt to cover up) will be one of the big stories in 2019. I do have a preview coming out shortly... I cracked up at Brett having to be the one to point out to Meggan that she might be pregnant. Some P.I. she is! Lol. Very interesting timing with both her and Dawn being pregnant at the same time, though. I suspect there's going to be something really soapy going down in the next few months... I like how Adam and Helen are making Dawn their priority (finally!), and Barbara really seems to be taking responsibility for the things she's done, which makes her a lot more sympathetic. And I can't believe Leah is finally going to make her decision. Thank god! You've set up some very interesting threads for 2019. I'm excited to see what you have in store! I enjoyed Brett calling her out on the obvious too! In her defense, she has been focused on many other things so it is possible that it never crossed her mind. I get where you are coming from with two pregnant gals at the same time but I promise you neither storyline is going where you expect it to go, especially Dawn's. Yes, Leah makes her decision, which will be revealed in the episode tomorrow! Thanks for reading - I hope you had a great holiday season, Dallas

Hey,Dallas!!! With everything going this year in the world of Twin Peaks it was great to see the residents having more of a laid back Christmas day. I like having Christmas as a more low key, family centered, episode because there is usually a lot of drama through out the year. It's nice just to see the families gathering, which drama under the surface, enjoying the season. Adam and Helen still have some good chemistry in spite of being divorced, the two of them were trying to make the day special for Dawn even though Barbara is in prison and Dawn is dealing with her own crisis of being pregnant by Jonah. Max, please take a hint, if you have tried several times to make Robin attracted to you and she isn't showing much interest then leave her alone and find someone new. Yet I know it wouldn't be drama in that and it was quite weird of him just showing up on the door of her family's home. Adam and Helen do still have good chemistry; they were together for so long (really so long for a soap opera) so they ended up going through a lot. The family is still reeling from everything that has happened in the last few months, so I liked that it was more laid back for them. And yes, Max does need to take a hint but he is one determined young man, his actions at the boutique proved this. Somehow I believe this bug planting by Bob/Kim isn't going to go the way they want though it is fun to read about them scheming. I just love this story because it is so twisted and it is using recent history in a current storyline. How it will play out will be one of the big storylines in 2019. I'm wondering is there any plans to age Jacob? Usually on soaps when young legacy characters our off screen for a long time get SORASed. Anyway Kim/Tyler tiring of everyone else being happy on this day whilst their dealing with their first holiday without Blake. Good Episode! Bre Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas Dallas Jacob may or may not return aged ... lips are sealed! lol. Happy Holidays to you as well Bre, I hope Santa was good to you! Dallas

I figured that Dawn was pregnant, it is going to be harrowing for her knowing she is carrying her rapist's child. I'm wondering is she going to consider an abortion? Or perhaps something else? Dawn is going to need all of her loved ones around to help her get her through this ordeal. You know as I read this I'm wondering if perhaps the baby might be up for adoption? A pregnancy for Dawn definitely feels like the next natural extension of this soapy scenario, so I can't say I'm surprised, but it should make for some complex drama. There are so many decisions to be made and things to consider here. The fact that Barbara shot this baby's father dead adds a whole other layer to an already troubling situation. It's nice to see Dawn and Shelley communicating and being supportive in the face of such drama. I wonder if that will last. They're such an unlikely pairing. Yea, the reveal that Dawn is pregnant isn't exactly a shocker but, to both of your points, it is the next stage of this storyline. There are many avenues of where this could go… I just hope you end up liking the future twists coming, there's a lot of drama coming. Add in the Barbara dynamic, there will be no shortage of story coming up. Max is one step away from locking Adam in a padded cell in order to be with Robin. Meanwhile, Andrew is kind of in the same boat when it is getting revenge on Chris because of his mother and Frederick. These two really need some type of redemption, which I realized. The stories are fun but they do have to pay the consequences for their actions. Time will tell how this plays out! I'm glad that Donovan has seen the light when it comes to Lukas not being into him anymore. But Andy is falling for his cocky behind, an opposite of him which might be interesting to explore. I did like Craig being the one Andy confided too since usually he is in physician mode This Donovan/Lukas thing has seemingly hit an end because of Lukas' being stubborn. Andy and Craig are the outsiders here but there are some twists coming up as we head towards the new year. Weirdly enough, Adam and Simona have some untapped chemistry. It is the first person she had chemistry with since she has been on canvas. I know he has got his own problems in that department right now. (You had Shelley's image instead of Simona's) Bre articulated something interesting about Adam/Simona that I hadn't really processed yet, but I think I saw some chemistry, too. Hmmm. I'm already tired of Adam and Robin on this merry-go-round about his impotency -- he's being a baby, and she's being a pain in the ass by not respecting the breakup. Leah, however, was potentially more tolerable, with acknowledging that she has to end this and then looking for a sign. I don't know the history well enough to know what the cherry blossom signifies, but that was a really nice touch and a way to use the past to inform the present. I hadn't noticed any chemistry between Simona & Adam! Simona, to be honest, is not a character I've thought about fleshing out beyond her role as the police officer, but maybe I should! Michael – in episode 62, shortly after Noah's death, Jeff and Leah shared a close moment at Noah's grave and a cherry blossom flower fell from the tree; that was the historical reference (it was from so long ago, I can appreciate not recalling) I read your Highs & Lows of 2018, and I see your point about both Max and Andrew. They've both gone pretty far in sabotaging others, so they come off more like villains than potential future leads. But I bet that can be worked out. Andrew certainly seems to feel remorse and understand the severity of what he did, and Paige as the "angel on his shoulder" could work wonders. And I know you're happy that Andy is "back out there." It's a nice change in dynamics, and it really does feel like he has grieved as a real person would. Can't wait to see how Christmas goes in Twin Peaks! Thank you for reading that post! I did purposely work on rehabilitating both Andrew and Max in 2019, so I'm curious to see what your thoughts are on the future of the characters as we move forward. And yes, it was time for Andy to get back on the horse, so to speak. I really enjoy the upcoming story for him. Thanks again for reading guys! Dallas

Love holiday specials! That was definitely a classic Chasing Diamonds, just with Christmas spirit threaded throughout. I loved the tree having diamond decorations. So campy! YAY! I'm glad that enjoyed the holiday special, Michael. I wrote this, I think, back in May ... so I was listening to Christmas music then to write the event. It was fun, I must admit mostly because there wasn't a lot of seasonal changes noted in the regular seasons of Diamonds, so this was a mini-departure from that. No surprise that Mac and Lydia fell apart again. Frankly, she threw away their marriage to have sex with Noel, so Mac shouldn't just take her back so quickly. Carmen's obviously scheming to land Mac, but she also isn't doing anything bad besides... being available to him, so he could do worse. I liked him inviting Sabine to move back in for Christmas. These people really get over EVERYTHING, lol. Sabine was pretty good in this installment, though. She was right to be pissed at Kent for moving back in with Vivian, and she did what she had to do to prove there was a scheme afoot. It was fun how the whole story of Vivian's scheme was a clean arc for this episode, too. You know, I remember Eileen Davidson and Melissa Reeves giving an interview or something when Kristen first came back to Salem years ago and Kristen and Jennifer became friends again; fans were calling out Jennifer/Missy because of all the horrible things Kristen had done ... and Eileen said something like it's a soap opera, if we never forgave people for what they did, no one would talk to anyone. That's always sort of stuck with me, especially on a cast this size. So yes, they do forgive EVERYTHING. but it's nice to bring up some of that horrible stuff every now and then. Lydia's affair was fun because I always imagined her with a younger man; through out the series she was (mostly) with Kent, so Noel was a great notch on her bed post. And yes, Carmen was just there for Mac and it played off for her! I did like Vivian's scheme to get Kent back. she played on his and Houston's feelings so much. If this was a regular season we'd see more fall out from it ... The tie-in with Chase Cooper being the one who fathered Vivian's child in the past was clever, too. That tied a few random threads together. I'm guessing she just dumped Madison with Chase and took off to save her marriage to Kent? (Also, is Chase Cooper black, based on the fact that Deacon is? Definitely didn't see the twist coming.) I assume we'll learn more in future specials. I sort of hope Cole isn't pissed at Madi. She didn't really hide anything from him -- she doesn't have a relationship with Vivian to speak of. She's done nothing to deceive Cole. I'm sure he will be bent out of shape, but it doesn't seem completely warranted. Yes, Chase Cooper is black. I'm already thinking he will be a new regular when the series comes back at some point because now there is story with him with Vivian, Madi and Deacon but we will see. Cole is kind of a loose cannon. Part of me pictures him falling off the wagon now and (hopefully) getting another bj from a man ... haha I was dying at Lucinda telling Sabine her basement had just been renovated. Lolololol. That was the best line of the episode! This was fun! Happy holidays, and I hope we'll see more CD in 2019! I loved that line too! Thanks so much for reading - it's always appreciated! Dallas

Every December, it is always fun to look back on the years' worth of material and honestly say what was a HIGH point for me and what was a LOW point. I'm certainly not the type of person to say that everything I write is amazing … I may think that at the time (!) but in retrospect, I think it's natural to say somethings didn't work or weren't as good as others.
Before I get into the specifics with each series, I will say that a true high for me was the relaunch of the Absolute Productions website; I love the colours and the flow and the various features it has to offer. One of the lows, on the flip side, was the lack of new content I put on the website, so I'm going to try to do more of that in 2019. Personally, it was a pretty good year. Relationships and marriages are a constant work and while Colton and I did have some bumps in the road, I can say that we are still going strong after 12 years together and 7 years married … just saying that makes me feel old! One of the great things about writing, however, is that it is an escape into another world that I really do look forward too.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on any of the highs & lows from the APN, Chasing Diamonds & ODaaT! Chasing Diamonds LOWS: Lex's (lack of) story in the Christmas Special: First, I really did love the Christmas special. It was so fun to write a seasonal episode for Diamonds because in the first 5 seasons there was never any reference to the seasons or a seasonal change; so it was refreshing in that aspect. However, Lex really didn't have that much to do in the special. He was in a relationship with Grant, which Mac & Cole were opposed to and he quit working for Rockwell and went back to Blackmore Ltd and had a mini clash with Houston, but it was still pretty minor compared to the other characters. Because he had gone through so much relationship drama during the first 5 seasons, I thought having him "stable" with Grant would be nice but it just sort of isolated him. I haven't really thought too much of the next special for Diamonds yet, but I do hope that this drama of switching companies and feud with Houston would be more of a front burner story for him as he is one of my favorite characters. Odette: Supervillain (season five): One of the stories that drove the majority of the final season of the series was Odette working to take down all of the Rockwell children as a way to get back at Mac, and in some ways, Lydia. She framed Cole for murder, had Stacey drinking too much (which every character on the series already does!) and gaslighted Lex … while I loved parts of the story, as a whole it was a bit much. It was part of the reason that the series came to an unofficial close … it's just difficult thinking of plots on-going for two series! HIGHS: The surprise 11th episode (season 5): I had teased at the start of the final season that there was a surprise waiting for fans … most thought it would be a cliffhanger ending, but it was actually the reveal that there was an 11th episode! All previous seasons only had 10 episodes, so the 11th really did come out of nowhere, especially since stories, for the most part, were wrapped up after the 10th episode. Of course, the 11th episode really gave a preview as to what was coming up in the series and in the Christmas episode. Toby isn't real (season 5): I think the biggest twist/reveal in the final season was that Lex's new lover was actually a figment of his imagination because Odette had been drugging him. I really loved this twist because it was out of the blue. Looking back, there were clear signs, however, as Toby only ever shared scenes with Lex and Celeste saw Lex talking to himself a few times. Still, I thought the idea was really good and one of the best twists of the entire series. One Day at a Time LOWS Andrew & Max: Okay, let me clarify as to why I have these two characters as Low points. I want to start by saying that I really do like both of these characters and they are really needed on the series as they are characters that should be driving the younger generation of the series, which they are. The problem is, and I only realized it until I had finished writing the 2018 year, that I really wrote them into corners. These two young men are expected to be the next leading men of the series for years and years, potentially. However, by having Max cause Adam's injuries and Andrew drugging Chris and Helen, the stories are left with them needing to pay for their crimes. Max, in particular, could go to jail for what he has done. While the outcome of the stories (Chris getting dumped by Trenyce and Helen, a rift created between Christ/Trenyce & Adam's impotence & the breakup of Robin/Adam) was important to move the stories forward, in retrospect, I wish I had thought of ways without pushing these two into corners. I hope I dig them out of these holes well enough in 2019…
Leah's Choice: In 2017, one of my favorite arches was my Santa Barbara storyline where Leah was revealed to be alive. The twist changed the game for Robbie, Victoria, Meggan and Jeff and the storyline carried in to 2018. There were moments of this plot that I really enjoyed, like Leah getting her memory back during the ice storm and the Judge forcing Leah and Jeff to stay together for 6 months. However, a lot of the rest of the story really seemed to fall flat as there weren't many soapy moments that made us pull for either Leah/Robbie or a Leah/Jeff pairing. She just sort of went back and forth in her angst without any real insight as to why she was torn, and thus really changed the outlook of her character. I will say that she does make up her mind by the end of the year and that moves all parties into a different path storyline wise.
Andy: I love this character and he has been on the series for a long, long time, however Andy really had little of his own to do this past year. I understand that some characters move to the back burner naturally; this is expected as storylines cycle, but this was the second full year he was left to be a supporting character. Andy did do a lot of supporting with Kim, Dawn and the other gays on the series, but he should be driving story of his own. I can attest that he does get his own story, and love life, in 2019, so I'm excited by this already.
HIGHS The Ice Storm: I think anyone who read any part of the 2018 knew that this arch was going to be a high for me. I won't get into great details, as I already have a detailed blog post about this arch (http://odaatwebseries.proboards.com/thread/359/scenes-ice-storm) but I will say that it is the longest arch in ODaaT history, the most (maybe) emotional, and the biggest umbrella story in history … and the aftermath is still playing out today! That's a good story.
Kim: Years ago when the APN had 5 or 6 series under it, we hosted the APA's, which were like the soap opera digest awards. If this was still happening today, I am sure that Kim would win the Leading category because she drove storyline all year around. She started the year getting blackmailed by Tyler into having more sex, when she refused she confessed her affair & the facial cream leak to Bob (which are still some of my favorite all time scenes) which resulted in her car accident during the icestorm, which resulted in Blake's death. From there she was devastated and slowly reunited with Bob while plotting revenge on Dominick, which ended up being her setting the boutique on fire! That's a big year for anyone!
Dawn's Coming of Age Storyline: Like the ice storm, I've already touched on the rape storyline in a forum post (http://odaatwebseries.proboards.com/thread/393/summer-monument-lake) but I did think this storyline was an overall highlight for me as it carried the throughout most of the year. Think back, at the start of the year Dawn was still exploring her feelings/sexuality with Shelley which helped her realize she is gay; that set into motion telling Adam/Helen/Barbara, which triggered Barbara's reaction (which I still think was spot-on!) and then she went to the camp, which saw her get raped by Jonah. It also introduced Cheresa, who will become a much bigger character in the future. Following this, we saw Dawn's devastating reaction and Barbara shooting & killing Jonah. It wasn't always an easy read or storyline to follow, but I am really proud of the overall plot and think it was a highlight for me!

Babs has a case of guilt of what she did by shooting Jonah. Looks like Helen & Adam our going to have a hard time convincing her otherwise. I have a guess on what is happening to Dawn. And I'm wondering if I'm right or wrong? I won't say it just in case it might be something else. Speaking of which, Dawn is totally preggo! It's the natural progression of this whole series of events. I'm surprised that Barbara is taking responsibility so boldly, though it does fit her character. Interested to see where this goes next. Hey guys! Thanks for stopping in … whatever is up with Dawn is revealed next episode, it is not dragged out. If there is a child involved, like Michael said, it would be the logical next phase of this story. And yes, Barbara is feeling overwhelmed with guilt which is why she is reacting the way she is. Helen and Adam have their hands full! Victoria still doesn't have time for Robbie's fickle self and I like that she isn't budging. It also feels like Leah is fickle as well since it's been nearly a year and she still has not chosen to be with Jeff or Robbie? I did like the scene with Paige. Victoria has become a favorite of mine for not taking Robbie's crap any longer. And Leah can go kick rocks! She's driving me insane with all this waffling. I'd love for Jeff to choose Meggan and Robbie to... well, I don't want Victoria to take him back, so I guess he can get stuck with Leah. But they're all being quite selfish in this mess. Like you guys, I love the new backbone Victoria has developed. It is rather refreshing for a soap character, especially a woman, to be so firm with a guy. Usually they are "I'll do whatever I can to be with him…" ect. Without giving too much away, this will lead new storyline for Victoria in the new year. As for Leah, I agree she is a mess. She does make a choice by the end of the year though … the next year the characters sort of move away from this triangle and into new plot points. Possibly Meggan might have another man vying for her affection with Brad Lawson coming onto the canvas. Plus I think she is pregnant which is going to quite complicated to this picture. BTW is Brad related to Cheresa because they have the same last name as one other? I had the same thought as Bre as soon as I read Brad's full name! He must be connected to Cheresa, who told Dawn that her dad just took a job in Twin Peaks... and the casting gives me the impression that Cheresa is adopted... hmm. Curious to see what you have planned for this Brad character, particularly since I have a pretty good idea what's up with Meggan. Damn! Nothing gets by you two lol. There will be more revealed with the reason why Brad & Cheresa have the same last names … #nospoilers Meggan does get some interesting news by the end of the year … it may or may not come as a surprise Thanks for reading! Hey Dallas!!! A longer episode than usual but I'm not complaining Can't wait in read when both Adam and Helen find out that not only Jonah came to the house to mess with Dawn. But that Barbara of all people shot and killed him in order to protect Dawn. Barbara getting arrested kind of surprised me I thought at least they were going to have her come down to the station for further questioning. I have a feeling that this will be a long road to Babs redemption when it comes to accepting her only granddaughter. The Black family is really being put through the ringer right now, which is fun as a writer. But yes, Adam and Helen's reaction will be revealed next episode. At this point, the reason Barbara was arrested is because an unarmed kid has been shot and killed. There is no real proof that it was "self defense" yet, so for the time being Barbara is in going to the slammer ... which is kinda fun in itself. Bob and Kim's plan might not work out if Felicia remembers a person standing outside. Although, I'm sure Eva will convince her that it was her mind playing tricks along with Bob and Kim getting someone to brainwash her to believe she was imagining this in her mind. I liked that Dominick is sticking beside her. This is just the beginning of this crazy plan for Bob and Kim. If it works, there will really be no way to discredit Felicia as she will claim she started the fire. It could be a very long time before anyone actually learns this secret. That is, if the plan works.. Thankfully, Chris and Helen our trying to use their common sense when it comes to them not sleeping together when Andrew drugged them. Trenyce once again has her hear broken. I'm wondering where is it going to lead her? Good Episode! Bre Yea, like I told Michael on Twitter, the main point of this pairing initially was to let Helen have a romance outside of Adam ... and of course to have Andrew's plan to break up Chris & Trenyce. This story does have longer legs, so we shouldn't count out Chris and Trenyce just yet ... Thanks for reading! Dallas

OMFG with Barbara! I actually had wondered if Dawn and Cheresa might kill Jonah at the bible camp and then have to cover it up, but getting Barbara in the mix is even more entertaining. I have a feeling this lady is NOT going to be a good liar. I guess there's always the chance that they will come clean straight away and then have to prove what happened and whether it was justified, but they're soap characters, so... Yes, Barbara really did kill Jonah. When I was planning this story, I thought this would be a nice sort of redemption for Barbara since she is the one who pushed everyone into sending Dawn to the camp in the first place. Of course, this leads the character down a completely different path, regardless of which way it plays out. I'm a little wary of Andy becoming involved with someone as unstable and immature as Lukas. I'm sure he is beyond ready to get back out there, since he really has grieved Reese and gone through his recovery in plausibly real time, and Lukas is aesthetically appealing. But I don't see his selfishness and juvenile behavior as a good match for someone who has to maintain his sobriety. It'll be interesting to see how this develops and what kinds of reactions both Donovan and Craig will have. Yes, I mentioned to Bre on twitter that this is just the start of Andy slowly getting back into the dating swing of things. From the outside, it seems like this isn't a great idea ... Andy is really fresh back into the dating pool and Lukas is, in some ways, lashing out at Donovan because he is hurt about what happened at the trial. It doesn't exactly seem like a happily ever after. But that's the fun thing about moving different characters around and seeing what happens. Kim and Bob scheming over brandy is so soapy. Felicia is going to have a hell of a time defending herself, no matter what she claims. Even her actual reason for being at the boutique -- trashing it and destroying the product -- lines up with starting a fire. BTW, I love all the references to the winter weather in this episode. I always love soaps during this time of year. There's something heightened about all the snow and the decor that goes along with the season. Let's just hope there isn't another ice storm! I really love Bob and Kim's plotting. It is so fun, I agree. And they are so twisted, especially Bob that he is getting off on the fact that Kim torched his rival's building. Kim's plan, which is revealed next episode, is also really sick and fun at the same time. Felicia, as you mentioned, will have a hard time defending herself ... And thank you! I live where we have winter almost 6 months of the year so I like to add that into ODaaT considering they are in a mountain town. It makes it feel more real. Thanks for your commentary! D
