Today, I released the Christmas episode for One Day at a Time and next week is the New Years Eve episode. Its hard to believe that we are almost finished with 2016, but I am looking forward to the new year and everything it has to offer.
I just wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a very happy and safe holiday season. It is one of my favorite times of the year, minus the cold, so I hope everyone feels festive and joy. It's also a time of year to reflect on the last 12 months and think about moving forward. In terms of being creative, this year was really awesome. I have really enjoyed the 2016 season of ODaaT because it really picked up where 2015 left off and kept moving at a solid pace. And, I created Chasing Diamonds and had two very fun season's of drama with the Rockwell's.
When I look forward to 2017, my ODaaT season is unlike any other. 2017 marks the 15th (!) anniversary of ODaaT being online, my hiatus included in that time. Still, I wanted to celebrate it because not many written webseries make it this far. So many of them hit 60 ish episodes and then vanish into thin air. I understand it; it's tough to keep up this hobby and put it online when people are doing so many activities in their lives that prevents series from getting any real regular readers or fans. I used to care a great deal about getting as many readers as I possibly could, but over time, my outlook on writing has changed. I really write these series because I enjoy stepping into another world and creating conflict; I am aim to please myself in my writing. The fact that a couple other people take the time to read and leave me comments is really a bonus and icing on the cake. So, I see no end in sight for my writing.
I got off topic, though. The 15th anniversary is going to be amazing because I have weekly episodes through out the year, but also daily episodes in February, May and November for sweeps, and again in May leading up to the 400th episode and again in August during the series actual birthday week. All of these daily/weekly episodes mean, there will be close to 75 (!) episodes released in 2017, which is by far the most I've ever released before. Also, there will be a brand new ODaaT website coming in the New Year. My profile pic is a sneak peak of it
I hope to release the third season of Chasing Diamonds as well, but there have been some setbacks. In my last blog, I said I had finished planning the third season but I've gone back to the drawing board on a couple of plot points. I really think season 2 of the series is epic and I want season 3 to be just as good; it's proving to be a tall order to get everything just right. I'm just glad I didn't announce a release date for season 3 and then have to pull back on the date. Anyways, I'll keep you posted on when it will be released! Hopefully sometime in the spring.
Finally, I had a great idea about a second season of Pender Island! I've struggled with many different ideas since I released season one of the series, but finally I think this idea I have will work. It will be much different than season 1, but I have to get all my ideas down on paper and start planning. So much writing to do, so little time!
Until next time - Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
