In the season 4 finale of Chasing Diamonds, episode 4.10 "The Ball", ... Mac is stalked by a secret guest at the party ... Stacey has a shocking confession ... Lex overhears a conversation between Brock & Cole ... and MUCH more!
I hope you enjoyed the fourth season!

I feel kind of guilty only leaving comments in two threads for the whole season, since you brought me so much entertainment, but I binged episodes 3-10 while I was away for Thanksgiving, so my thoughts are all jumbled together. Very fun season, though! I mentioned earlier that I liked the unconventional route you took with Lex this season, and I hope you continue that. It could use more exploration, especially if the three of them try to have a more regular thing. I also like how Cole got roped into this whole thing and how Lex overheard in the finale. I wonder where that's going to go. I kind of felt like Cole thought of turning to Brock WAY too easily -- like that was already in his mind! -- but it's a fun twist, and I like how modern the fluidity was. Hoping to learn more about Tanner next season, since he's still a bit of a cypher. Is it too much to hope that he has some secrets? Speaking of Cole... what a mess! I know Dixie's death is going to come back and bite him in the ass at some point. Is it weird I wasn't really rooting for him and Celeste to reunite? She is such a fickle floozy. Her fling in the closet with Marat makes dramatic sense, but it makes both of them seem so gross. Marat is THAT insecure, even before Houston even showed up alive?! Yikes. Of course, juicy secrets are the backbone of soaps, so it's like a race to see what comes out first: Cole covering up Dixie's OD or Celeste's pregnancy by Marat. Definitely rooting for Stacey and Houston, BTW. I'm glad Houston was appalled at what Kent did to Stacey (unlike Lydia, who was all too happy to forgive, lol). It was nice to see Stacey's humanity restored, as opposed to her ruthless turn in season 3. I like that you continued that thread. I still think she was at her most interesting when she was working in the cafeteria at the mine, though -- I liked her stepping out of her familiar trappings. Plus I'll never forgive you for dropping that before you had a chance for her to exclaim, in the words of her portrayer, "Bon appetit, baby!" I also liked how Sabine originally covered up Lydia and Houston being alive, but then her own humanity got the best of her. That was a nice turn, because it makes her not pure evil. I'm not so sure Lucinda is actually a vegetable if she's sitting up and screaming already, so we'll see where that goes. I did love the gothic tone of her last scene with Mac. I'm guessing we haven't totally seen the last of her yet. Oh, one other thing I enjoyed: the fakeout with Lex helping Rockwell get the mine instead of Blackmore. I sort of had a clue it was coming, but that isn't a criticism. It's fun to drop those breadcrumbs so readers wonder, "Hey, is he actually...?" That was a fun reveal. Great season! If I had one criticism, it's that things happen at such a fast clip that it feels like we blow past things rather than really reveling in them, which I guess comes with the primetime soap modeled as opposed to a more daytime one. I can't believe there's only one season left! I'll be upset to see CD conclude. It's fun to binge-read it, just like a Netflix series. Congrats!

I feel kind of guilty only leaving comments in two threads for the whole season, since you brought me so much entertainment, but I binged episodes 3-10 while I was away for Thanksgiving, so my thoughts are all jumbled together. Very fun season, though! Please don't feel bad! The entire point of releasing episodes 3-10 at once are for people to binge, like they would a Netflix series, so I'm glad that the series helped you through your Thanksgiving! One of the things I wish was fleshed out more this season was the character of Tanner. There were so many other big moments, reveals, stories going on that his character, and in some ways the entire Brock/Lex/Tanner triangle, really moved aside for the other stories. I have some great ideas in my mind of where this will go, but I'm undecided on which rout I will take yet. The Cole/Brock thing was really fun to write, to be honest. I kept writing Cole as this crazed horn dog while he was high, and when Dixie wasn't around, he just used the first mouth that was available. I did have this in mind last season when I first introduced Brock, which I indicated that Brock thought Cole was hot. Of course, the cliff hanger of Lex learning will lead to more feuding between the brothers, which has sort of been lost since the first season and a bit. Yikes. I still think she was at her most interesting when she was working in the cafeteria at the mine, though -- I liked her stepping out of her familiar trappings. Plus I'll never forgive you for dropping that before you had a chance for her to exclaim, in the words of her portrayer, "Bon appetit, baby!" Cole going off the deep end was a lot of fun. I always wanted Cole & Celeste to get back together, but I really wanted him to do some horrific things to her, like testifying against her at the trial, before that happened. The reveal that Grant is Dixie's brother will play into next year and we will see if Mac/Cole can keep up the secret. Of course, Vivian is also a key player in the Celeste/Marat secret because she saw them together in the garden. Stacey needed to go back to usual self this season because last season was a departure for her. I sort of used her as the "super bitch" in lieu of Lydia who was presumed dead for most of last season (which was her redemption in a lot of ways from her crazy ways of season 2). Like the Lex storyline, I have a lot of ideas of how to make the Cole/Celeste/Marat/Stacey/Houston storyline play out, but I haven't made any final decisions. One of the reasons I moved Stacey & Houston out of the cafeteria of Season 1 is because it isolated them more from the rest of the cast. With almost everyone else having an office job, of some kind, within the two companies, you can get more character interactions! I also liked how Sabine originally covered up Lydia and Houston being alive, but then her own humanity got the best of her. Sabine and Lucinda were both fun to write this season, because Sabine's insecurities of always being second fiddle to Lydia really played her, and Lucinda knew that. I knew that, somehow, Lucinda would have to pay for her crimes, but I didn't want her to go to jail. This seemed like a more fitting punishment (which sounds sick! haha). I can't believe there's only one season left! I'll be upset to see CD conclude. It's fun to binge-read it, just like a Netflix series. Congrats! At the start of the season, I knew that I wanted Lex to return to Rockwell vs. Blackmore, but there would have to be reason for this to happen, so I came up with the concept of Lex learning about Stacey's shooting and then using it against Kent to help Mac. It seemed like the logical thing to do, but I'm glad that it worked for you. To be honest, I would agree that criticism; I have felt that way about each season of writing this, but also watching older primetime soaps ... things just happens so quickly, there's not time to see the characters grasp everything that happens, or see any growth in the characters because the next surprise/twist arrives. So, I feel that for sure. That's what makes this series so different than ODaaT, where when a surprise happens, I spend the next few months dealing with the fall out. Thanks for reading and leaving your comments - I really appreciate it! Stay tuned for news about the 5th and finale (whelp!) season! Dallas
