I'm so happy that CD is back! This release schedule is really fun, and I love that it's a totally different pace from the more traditional daytime feel of ODAAT. CD has kind of (kind of!) filled that Blackthornes-shaped hole in my heart.
One thing I really like about the seasons is that you always set up clear, new storylines in the premiere and then just let them take off. Since the series began with Cole getting out of treatment, it's only fitting that we come back to his addiction. It's sad to see him spiraling, although frankly, he's never seemed like he had that good a hold on his sobriety. I think he used his love for Celeste as a crutch, which isn't ever a good way to stay clean -- because it's still about outside forces, not YOU. From my perspective, what she did wasn't really that awful, or at least it's understandable, so I feel like Cole should (and will) come around at some point. Only thing is, Celeste might wind up getting closer to Marat, and Dixie is now there to mix things up. Every rich family needs a trashy social-climber, and I have a feeling that's what she'll be.
Also, what is this girl doing to herself that she has scabs and sores from doing cocaine?! Is she sure she didn't step out of a Faces Of Meth campaign? Lol.
I was wary of Lex being fickle and just jumping onto the next hot guy who walked into his office, but you put in a character note that I really liked: the way he told Brock that he likes him but isn't looking for something serious. Soap characters are always jumping from one "true love" to the next, and it feels realistic that a guy in his 20s who's been through everything Lex has been through would just want to have some fun and date casually. I see this getting messy, but it has a contemporary feel, and that could make for some really good drama.
Poor Sabine, having to walk in on that!!! LOL. I can't get over how gross Houston and Lydia must be at this point. Did Lucinda give them a shower or anything?! Also, Lucinda is out of her damn mind. I can't wait for her schemes to be exposed. This woman is crazed! I really have no idea what Sabine is going to do now, though I imagine she will try to help.
BTW, I noticed Houston doesn't have a bio on the cast page this season. Is that spoiler-y, or just an oversight...?
Looking forward to binging the rest over my Thanksgiving trip!

I'm so happy that CD is back! This release schedule is really fun, and I love that it's a totally different pace from the more traditional daytime feel of ODAAT. CD has kind of (kind of!) filled that Blackthornes-shaped hole in my heart. YAY! I'm glad it's back too - like you said, it is much different than ODaaT, which is why it's so nice to step into this world, creatively speaking. It just challenges me in a different way than ODaat does. When I was thinking of doing a series like this, I really wanted to ensure it was different than ODaaT because I don't need another ODaaT (some producers in the past have had multiple series and they felt like they were the same one), so I'm glad you feel that way! I think the Blackthornes vibe is because they are both more primetime-feeling series; I miss it too! I hope Andy brings it back one day. Lol. Cole is tortured in many ways; I've always tried to play the fact that Lex, despite being younger, is actually better at business than Cole, which hurts him because realistically, Cole should be the one to take over Rockwell one day, but Mac would prefer Lex. So, this Celeste thing is another example of Cole not coming out on top, and it makes him weaker in some ways. This is a fun tale that takes a couple of twisted turns in the upcoming episodes! YES! When I was thinking of the next phase of Lex's journey, I couldn't see him actually wanting to be in a serious relationship again. Gay men like men. They like sex. So, it felt natural that he would just want some "fun" times vs. anything serious. On soaps, when people are held hostage, I never think of saying there's a shower. They just look as amazing as usual. LOL, but they are pretty gross The next couple of episodes will reveal a lot with the direction of the story... Houston! This was an oversight - I've uploaded his bio Happy Thanksgiving - appreciate you stopping by! I hope you enjoy the rest of the season! Dallas
